Force Strategy Gaming has put together an excellent series of Diablo 3 Beta class walkthroughs, entitled “Let’s Play”. The first offering in their ongoing series of 3 part videos features an early look at the Barbarian class.
These game play videos are from week one of the closed beta, which means they don’t offer a real in-depth look at the class or the game’s content. Current Diablo 3 testers are limited by a level cap of 13, and are only able to progress through a portion of Act One, so don’t expect to see any high level talents or gear. This is baby Barb stuff.
At any rate, these videos offer a fantastic preview of what to expect when just starting out in Act One with a young Barbarian. Force does an excellent job with the commentary, and also provides viewers with an in-depth look at the D3 user interface. If you’re not in the beta, then watching this series of videos will have you feeling as if you are actually completing Act I.
Enjoy.

A few dozen screenshots have been posted online featuring some of the higher end gear sets in Diablo 3. Feedback on these newly discovered sets has been mixed, as they are… well… pretty freaking over the top. Although they’re not as ‘cartoony’ looking as World of Warcraft gear, some of them look a bit too outrageous for the Diablo universe.
Check out Sauron here…

Overall, I think that the Demon Hunter and Witch Doctor have a couple of nice options, but I’m not feeling the Barb gear too much, and some of the Monk sets look absurd. The Wizard gear is alright, but a few of the sets look a little too armored up for a caster.
However… nothing can top this new Monk set, worn by a very aptly named character…

Blizzard announced today that the Diablo 3 Closed Beta is now underway, which means all players are now eligible for beta testing. Of course, you need to be selected first, so make sure you have your Battle.net account settings configured properly for beta eligibility, and also be sure your system profile is current. See this post for additional info on being eligible for Diablo 3 Beta selection.
As with any hugely anticipated beta invitation mass-mailing, please be wary of phishing attempts. If you’re fortunate enough to receive a beta invite, please don’t click on any of the included links – no matter how legit the email looks. Always be safe and log into your actual Battle.net account to verify your beta participation status, as well as to download the game client.
Blizzard is not enforcing a Non-Disclosure Agreement with this beta test, so participants are free to discuss the game, post articles and reviews, publish videos to YouTube, etc…
Good luck to all those still awaiting an invite!

Lately, there has been much discussion and debate over whether it’s realistic for Diablo 3 players to think that they can actually make a decent income by selling the loot they acquire. With the introduction of the RMAH (Real Money Auction House) in Diablo 3, many players are already having visions of grandeur over the possibilities of becoming rich just by farming items, then selling them for real cash via the RMAH.
Will this be possible? Probably not.

If you enjoy this site and want to keep up with the Diablo 3 news and discussion that’s being posted here, then please take a moment to follow AncientAvenger on Twitter and to like my new page on facebook. It’s kind of lonely out there in social media land with so few fans, so please help to jump-start my cult following by adding me to your list of faves.
This site’s been casually plugging along for a few years now, but with the release of Diablo 3 looming just over the horizon, expect things to be very lively around here in the months and years to follow…

Seems as if participants in the beta are less than thrilled with the Demon Hunter class in its current state. Blizzard has announced that they will be undergoing a Demon Hunter class overhaul, including a restructuring of the resource system, changes to the talents, and more…
This bit of news was first spotted by Loque of Diablogging, over on the EU forums. Given that the original post is in Italian, here is a translated version of the blue’s message:
Official quote from Blizzard
We are radically changing the resources management for the Demon Hunter, including changes to unlocking skills, resources management and more. (Translated)

Blizzard has just announced on their D3 Community Site that PayPal will be the 3rd party payment processor for the Diablo 3 Auction House system. They also stated that PayPal funds will be added as another form of acceptable payment on Battle.net.
This is great news! I’ve often wished that Blizzard would accept PayPal as a form of payment for subscription based services like WoW, as well as for items in their Blizzard store. It’s just so damned convenient!

This agreement should create a huge financial boon for PayPal’s parent company eBay, since many players will probably start actively selling on there in an effort to keep their PayPal accounts filled up.
As a reminder to all of the hard core players out there… do note that the ‘real world currency’ based auction house system will not be available to hard core characters. Only normal mode players will be able to benefit from this new Blizzard / PayPal partnership, as far as the auction house is concerned.

Will there be guns in Diablo 3..? It’s looking like the answer to that question is, NO.
However, some misleading text on the Demon Hunter class character page suggested that guns were to be a part of the Demon Hunter’s arsenal in Diablo 3…
Quote from Blizzard
Demon hunters are able to pepper the battlefield with scores of arrows and projectiles, or snipe distant enemies with a precision undreamt of by other heroes. Their arsenal includes longbows, guns, grenades, hand-thrown weapons, and even dual-wielded crossbows.
Guns..?!
In addition to the erroneous mention of guns in the Key Features > Ranged Weapons section of the Demon Hunter class overview, there was also another tooltip description that suggested guns were in the game. The Crimson Runestone effect applied to Evasive Fire indicates the use of ‘exploding bullets’.

Blizzard has updated their Diablo 3 Community Site with some important features and information — one of the most exciting additions being the new class skill calculator.
Players can now start doing some pre-release theorycrafting of builds for all five classes, then share and compare with friends.
All available active and passive skills are included in the calculator, along with socketable Runestones.
Please post links to your awesome builds in the comments section — PvE, PvP, Magic Find or otherwise.
Also note that this tool is being released during the beta phase of Diablo 3, so it’s likely that some of the abilities and effects will be changed before the official release.
